25 years clinical experience
Throughout my life I have been interested in health and fitness. I love the physical and mental health benefits of being active and I have participated in many activities over the years including running, dancing, hiking, swimming, cycling, group fitness, pilates and yoga.
My happy places are in a dance class, sprinting on the athletics track, hiking and travel adventures in stunning surrounds, enjoying the Performing Arts, pottering in the garden and reading a good book.
I completed a Bachelor of Science in 1993 but decided against a career in Environmental Planning & Policy. Whilst working in the banking and finance industry, I pursued my interest in health, taught group fitness classes and commenced studies in remedial massage.
In 2000, I managed the group fitness program at Griffith University and established a successful remedial massage clinic in the Brisbane CBD. In 2003, I founded a new practice in Ashgrove.
I treat a diverse range of clients including competitive athletes; clients with active lifestyles who participate in running, athletics, cycling, triathlons, dance, team sport and group fitness; sedentary office workers; clients managing mental health conditions; and those wanting to keep their bodies functioning as well as possible.
In my 25 years of clinical practise, I have successfully treated clients with chronic pain and many musculoskeletal conditions including headaches, migraines, neck, back, hip, shoulder and limb pain.
Throughout the years I have gained valuable experience working alongside Specialist Physiotherapists (Tony McNamee and David Brentnall), Musculoskeletal Physician (Dr Mark Craig), Podiatrist (Ashley Mahoney), and other Allied Health practitioners including Exercise Physiologists, Acupuncturists, Clinical Nutritionist and Counsellor.
I am a highly experienced Senior Level One member of Association of Massage Therapists (AMT), a registered provider with all major health funds and supporter of safer indoor air to reduce transmission of airborne infectious diseases, especially in health care settings.
I continue to enhance my knowledge through ongoing professional education and enjoy learning about other areas of health and the biopsychosocial approach which considers interactions between biological, psychological and social factors in understanding health, illness and pain management.
I have had remedial massage myself for many years and believe in its benefits. I truly love my work and am extremely grateful for the opportunity to apply my highly developed skills to provide you, my valued clients, with the therapeutic benefits of remedial massage.
Jodie is a Senior Remedial Massage Therapist (RMT), has a Diploma of Remedial Massage and is proud to be a Senior Level One member of AMT.
